For over 25 years, Julie has worked in the fitness industry. She has always loved moving for joy and stress relief, but when her scoliosis and back pain threatened to keep her from exercising, she began studying Pilates to heal her own body. In the early 90s, she became certified in Pilates from the Physical Mind Institute and soon partnered with Bob Fosse dancer and fitness icon Toni Beck to create self-care workshops for executive women highlighting the importance of movement as a form of stress management and wellbeing.
In 2005, she opened Julie Harrison Studio, where for over a decade she has worked privately with clients ranging from young ballet students to over-scheduled mothers to women in their 80s. Here, healing diverse bodies through movement truly became Julie’s life’s work.
“We only have one precious body in this life, so it is vital we take care of it. There are no returns or refunds.” — Julie
Drawing upon years of training and working one-on-one with her clients, she developed her own body care method. Through her program, she designs personalized movement programs based on each individual’s needs, using a unique combination of Pilates, body rolling, reflexology, rebounding, and Intuitive Eating. Her movement method is for anyone who deals with pain or discomfort, loss of balance and flexibility, body tension, exhaustion, or is just fed up with frantic workouts and crash diets.
In addition to being certified in Pilates, Julie has taught at Texas Ballet Theatre, studied Yamuna Body Rolling, and is certified in Progressing Ballet Technique and Intuitive Eating.
Her greatest joy is seeing movement nurture overworked, stressed bodies and watching her clients go from surviving to thriving. When she’s not teaching, you can find her in adult ballet class or strolling the beach when visiting her daughter in Santa Monica.
